parties to conduct Hydrogen related education, research and community service in Indonesia

Spectronik has signed a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MOU) with Toyota Indonesia Academy (Indonesian: Akademi Komunitas Toyota Indonesia or AKTI) on 21 December 2023 following a 2-day visit by AKTI to Spectronik Headquarter in Singapore. During the visit, AKTI received product training on the recently purchased Protium-375 Hydrogen fuel cell system, toured Spectronik’s fuel cell production facility, and drove the Cruiser Hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

AKTI was founded to provide vocational training to next generation workers and equip them with the skills and competencies required for the Automotive industry. AKTI is also a strong advocate for equal education opportunity and accepts students from more than 12 provinces within and outside Java. To prepare students for the ever-changing needs of the Automotive industry and Industry 4.0, such as automation, robotics, sustainability and circular economy, AKTI has identified Hydrogen and fuel cells as potential solutions that can contribute to decarbonization efforts in Indonesia. As a start, the aforementioned Protium-375 will be installed into an Autonomous Guided Vehicle (AGV) in one of Toyota’s factories in Karawang, Indonesia.

Through the MOU, Spectronik and AKTI highlight 3 avenues of collaborations including but not limited to:

  1. EDUCATION: Training and seminar on both theoretical and practical education related to Hydrogen fuel cells;

  2. RESEARCH: Technical support in terms of R&D and system integration of Spectronik’s fuel cell products into applications such as EVs and AGVs;

  3. COMMUNITY SERVICE: Jointly promote Hydrogen and fuel cell technologies to tertiary institutions and industry partners;

This MOU is a continuation of Spectronik’s increasing presence in Indonesia. In July 2023, Spectronik powered eco-cars dominated the Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2023 competition in Lombok. The following month in August 2023, Spectronik powered Indonesia’s first Hydrogen fuel cell hybrid train in collaboration with state-owned train manufacturer PT Industri Kereta Api in Madiun.

In 2024, Spectronik expect to bring its Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and Hydrogen refueling station equipment to Indonesia.
