1st place finish also breaks the fuel efficiency record
On 8-12 February 2025, university teams competed in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East 2025 (SEM APME 2025) in Lusail International Circuit, Doha, Qatar. The goal of the competition is to build the most fuel-efficient vehicle across different power sources (battery electric, Hydrogen and ICE) and categories (prototype and urban concept).
NAKOELA UI TEAM from Universitas Indonesia (Indonesia) won 1st place in the Prototype Hydrogen category with a fuel efficiency result of 528km/m3. This remarkable result is the highest ever achieved in SEM APME competition.
BITEPC 翼昇节能车队 from Beijing Institute of Technology (China) won 2nd place with a fuel efficiency result of 478km/m3, further improving from their 421km/m3 result obtained in SEM China 2024 just 4 months earlier.
Antasena ITS Team from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (Indonesia) won 3rd place with a fuel efficiency result of 341km/m3, a 57.9% improvement from their last valid result of 216km/m3 in SEM APME 2023.
All three vehicles are powered by Spectronik’s Protium Eco-Marathon fuel cell system, representing a clean podium sweep for Spectronik powered vehicles in the Prototype Hydrogen category.
In the true spirit of marathon, the primary objective is not to win but to complete the race and improve on the individual’s personal best record. A special shout-out to KUST from Kookmin University (Republic of Korea) and Team ReNew from Kumaraguru College of Technology (India) who also use Spectronik’s fuel cells but could not achieve a valid result this time. Spectronik is honored to have been part of these teams’ journey and we look forward to continue supporting them to achieve their fullest potential in future competitions.
A huge congratulations once again to all team members of NAKOELA UI TEAM, BITEPC and Antasena ITS Team.
